The Badlands … the Beginning of Happily Ever After?

We could have done this engagement shoot at a closer location from home one week prior on a sunny day at the Bluffs, but we just couldn’t resist the idea of shooting at Brian’s other “neat suggestion”, the Badlands in Caledon, just outside of Brampton, so there we go …

It was a good start, at least.  We didn’t have any difficulties finding Brian and his girlfriend at the Tim Horton’s in Brampton.  It was a little windy, but it was perfectly sunny at the time we arrived in Brampton.  However, even with the help of TomTom (our GPS), we appeared lost in the outskirts of the suburban area of Brampton in search for the legendary “Badlands”.  Next, it started to rain…

We finally found the Badlands! It’s a small valley of red clay, which I am curious how it was formed geologically.  It’s very very beatiful! We can’t describe how much we loooove the exposed roots of some of the trees down the valley.  It was simply breathtaking looking down the valley.

We waited in the car for a while until the rain clouds have seemingly agreed to recede for our photo shoot (notice the word “seemingly”).

Despite that it was frEEEEEEzing cold at the valley, our crew trekked down the valley (or for me, I was crawling down the valley) to shoot.

Suddenly, it started to rain again… we continued to pose in our sleeveless tops and held the camera lights high up and strong when the worse’s yet to come… it began to hail!! (I must admit, I have hoped for some rainy photos in my engagement photo collection, but I didn’t ask for hail!)

Brian and his girlfriend had to climb in between the clay rocks to shoot with their heavy equipment in such adverse weather condition.  The heels of my shoes were stuck in the moist clay all the time, so I ended up taking off my shoes when I was cautiously crawling around the very slippery valley to pose.

I tell ya — It really wasn’t an easy relaxing shoot as the photos might have suggested to you otherwise, but it was fun, and it was quite an experience.  It was also very sweet how Simon lifted me up or stood as a strong support throughout.  :)   Yes, the photos turned out good too.  Here’s a picture of us showing off my clay shoes after the shoot:
